All Your Questions About Bridal Skincare, Answered

Your guide to the most pressing bridal skincare questions

A bridal makeover is not just about hair and makeup on your wedding day, it means a wholesome approach to beauty. We’re talking about a derma-approved bridal skincare routine and clinical treatments that will make your skin and hair look healthy and glowing on the big day.

Earlier this week, I asked my Instagram audience to send in their questions about bridal skincare, and here I am answering the most common ones:

How should I treat open pores (at-home and clinically)?

If you want a permanent solution to enlarged pores, try chemical peels and body toning treatments. You can opt for carbon facials and HydraFacials at ISAAC Luxe, which are highly effective in tightening pores. At home, add gel-based cleansers, non-comedogenic creams, gentle exfoliators, and mineral-based sunscreens to your skincare routine.

What are the best treatments for acne scars before my wedding?

Question2 acne scars

You can pick any of the following treatments. They are safe, non-invasive, and have minimal downtime.

  • Fraxel laser: A laser resurfacing treatment that penetrates deep into the skin and breaks apart the scar tissue.
  • Cocktail peels: A chemical peel that uses alpha-hydroxy acids and salicylic acid for exfoliation. It removes dead skin cells from the epidermis and refines skin texture.
  • Intense Pulsed Light Therapy: The intense pulses of light in this treatment destroy bacteria and break up excess melanin, which effectively removes acne scars and pigmentation.
  • DermaPen: This is used to treat active acne and reduce pigmentation and scarring by encouraging collagen growth and improving skin texture.

I suffer from pigmentation. What do you recommend and when should I start the treatment?

You can treat pigmentation with the help of cosmeceuticals that have nicotinamide, pycnogenol, cinnamic acid, glycolic acid, citric acid, and coffeeberry. If this does not work, then opt for chemical peels, laser therapy, retinoid combination therapy, or photodynamic therapy. These therapies require multiple sessions, which is why it is advised to start them at least three months before your wedding.

What should a bride do if she gets a pimple the day before or on the day of the wedding?

Question4 pimple

Use a hydrocolloid dressing on your acne overnight if a pimple pops up the day before your wedding and if it’s on the big day, apply a hydrocortisone cream and a cold compress to minimise the acne.

What is the best facial for glowing skin?

You can try the Intense Pulsed Light Therapy or photo facials. They both stimulate collagen production and improve skin’s texture and tone. They are also known to promptly reduce acne and remove signs of sun damage. At ISAAC Luxe, I offer IPL photo facials and LED photo facials.

Is it a good idea to get lip injections before the wedding? I want a natural, fuller lip.

Question6 lip injection

Yes! At ISAAC Luxe, you can try Juvederm, a premium quality filler made of hyaluronic acid gel that gives natural-looking plump lips without any swelling or side effects. Before you go in for the treatment, a detailed consultation will be given to you on the best shape for your lip and where the filler is needed (corner or the Cupid’s bow). This will freshen up your smile and make your lips look fuller.

I have pigmentation on my lips. What will help?

Try ISAAC Luxe’s Lush Lips Treatment. While this lip tinting treatment injects your lips with semi-permanent colour (so don’t have to apply lip colour every day), it also is a great treatment for lip pigmentation or pale/dark lips. It exfoliates, plumps, and adds colour to your lips.

When should I begin laser hair removal so it’s done in time for the wedding?

Question8 laser hair removal

The duration and number of laser sessions depend on the density and type of your hair. You may need anywhere between three to seven sessions. Each session is done with a gap of four weeks. If you are going for a full body laser treatment, then your first sessions should start at least four months before your wedding week. Laser treatments do not give immediate results, so as a rule of thumb, your last laser session should conclude one month before your wedding.

I suffer from hair thinning. What can I do to make it look voluminous for the wedding?

You can go for Progenra treatment. This is a FDA-approved, minimally-invasive procedure that uses regenerative cells from the nape of your neck and then injects them to your scalp, which, in turn, stimulates natural hair growth. In most cases, one 30 minute session is enough and you will see the results in two to three months.

What skincare routine do you recommend for the months leading up to the wedding?

Question10 skincare routine

It must start from within, so a healthy diet that includes all in-season fruits and vegetables and no sugar. Drinks lots of liquids. Get enough sleep. Along with that, wear sunscreen every single day, exfoliate twice or thrice a week, don’t forget to moisturise, and enjoy every moment!
